Best Authentic Mexican food goes to La Playita Cafe, which I like to describe as one of Hermosa’s “hidden gems”. Palmilla gets all the glory with their upscale menu and sophisticated margaritas, but if you’re looking for a mom and pop hole in the wall place with some seriously AWESOME food- this is the place to go. With first come first serve limited seating inside as well as the cutest little back patio, I’ve never been disappointed with the quality of food and overall authentic vibe this cafe has to offer. My personal fave- the “Camerones Rancheros”.

Fun Fact: During COVID-19 this was a popular spot to grab to go food and margaritas and socialize (at a distance) with all your friends at the neighboring park. Although things have thankfully gone back to normal, I still love to time my to-go order with the sunset and eat my meal picnic-style on the grass with a blanket, watching the sun go down over the ocean. Honestly, these little things are the key to how we’re selling the beach lifestyle here.
